I'm New Here

I'm New here

New Paragraph

Visiting a new church can be intimidating:
What should I wear? Where do I park? Where do my kids go?

We understand the many thoughts that can come from visiting a new church,
so we want you to feel completely comfortable when you visit.
Below are some frequently asked questions.
If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to contact us
or talk with a greeter when you visit.

  • When are Masses and Confessions?

    Weekdays Summer

Wed: 7:30 am in SFX Chapel (Jun-Aug)

    Weekends

    Sat Vigil: 4:00pm

    Sun: 8:00am & 10:30am

We live stream our 10:30am Mass

    Confessions are by appt only.

  • What should I wear?

We want you to feel comfortable. After all, we are thrilled that you're joining us and want you to be more focused on the service than what you're wearing. In the summertime, it's not uncommon to see people wearing sandals, shorts, and a shirt. Others prefer to still put on their "Sunday best," and that's fine too! However, we do request that shorts be of a conservative length (no “short-shorts”) and that in general, clothing be respectable and conservative.

  • How do I get to SFX?

St. Francis Xavier Church is located on the corner of 52nd St. and Troost Ave.

    Our address is 1001 E. 52nd. St.

The entrance to the church parking lot is on 52nd. St.

  • I'm not Catholic - How do I Participate?

There’s no need to be self-conscious about the postures and responses used during Mass. Most visitors just follow the lead of our parishioners. In our church hymnal there is a section to help you follow the Order of the Mass.

Communion, or The Eucharist, is the most intimate expression of our faith. Catholics believe that the host is literally the body of Christ, transformed from bread by the priest presiding at Mass.

Those not receiving Communion are invited to come forward with their hands crossed over their chests for a special blessing.

  • Am I expected to put money in the offering?

If you are visiting with us, we don't expect you to put money into the offering, and you are welcome to just let it pass you by. If you consider our parish your church home, we'd love for you to prayerfully consider giving to our parish on a weekly basis. You can give by check or cash during the service, or you can sign up for online giving here.

  • Where do my children go?

During the 10:30 am Mass on Sundays, we offer a Children's Liturgy of the Word. This is an opportunity for children aged 5 to 10 to join our faith formation team in the chapel, where they can participate in sessions specifically designed for their age group.

Additionally, our church is equipped with a cry room, located at the rear of the church. You can find it easily by turning right as soon as you enter the church.
